Extracts from MacAskill book to appear in Sunday Times

[On page 37 of today’s Scottish edition of The Times there appears an advertisement in the following terms:]

THE SUNDAY TIMES
SCOTLAND
The Lockerbie Bombing:
The search for justice

In exclusive extracts from his
powerful new book, Kenny
MacAskill, the man who freed
the Lockerbie bomber, lays bare
the commercial interests that
led UK ministers to push for his
return to Libya. And who he
believes was really responsible
for Britain’s worst terrorist
attack.
Starting this weekend, only in
The Sunday Times

[RB: It may perhaps be worth recalling that on 3 May 2016 there appeared in The Times an article headlined MacAskill accused of cashing in on Lockerbie.]

  1. If the book is purely about the events of 2007 et sequitur, if could be very revealing indeed about the political processes underway at that time. There's little need even to touch on whether Megrahi was actually guilty or not, but I don't imagine he'll resist the chance to have a side-swipe.

I have no idea at all if he read my book. I sent him a copy, but didn't even receive an acknowledgement.

No surprise, we have heard that story numerous times earlier.

    Wow!
Can't recall McAskill ever touching the question of Megrahi's guilt.
I have probably gravely missed out on something. Well, if so it can have the advantage of getting unexpected positive surprises.

    1. His sanctimonious rhetoric when he announced the compassionate release on live TV pretty much took it as read that the man he was releasing was a mass murderer.

    2. That's in line with what I'd have thought.
Well, the quoted bit then must mean that something unexpected is about to occur.
