Restoration of UK diplomatic relations with Libya

On this date in 1999, three months after the arrival of Megrahi and Fhimah at Zeist, diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Libya were restored, having been broken off in April 1984 following the shooting of PC Yvonne Fletcher. The announcement was made in the House of Commons by the Foreign Secretary, Robin Cook.
