A shameful anniversary
Today is the ninth anniversary of the conviction of Abdelbaset Megrahi by the Scottish Court in the Netherlands. How much longer will it be before this stain is removed from the Scottish criminal justice system?
Was he convicted on the evidence alone or was it coloured by the view that an acquittal would set an intolerable precedent where the defendant could successfully negotiate the composition of the Tribunal before which he would agree to appear?
Thank you for marking it, sir.
