SNP must prompt Megrahi inquiry

[This is the heading over a letter from Jack Fraser in yesterday's edition of the Edinburgh Evening News. It reads as follows:]

Kenny MacAskill's "compassionate" release of Megrahi, the Libyan convicted of the Lockerbie bombing, will always be shrouded in suspicion because it negated any appeal which might implicate the US and UK governments of playing a part in what many people see as a possible miscarriage of justice.

This is bad for Scotland's beleaguered judicial system and must be addressed. Although I disagree with Cardinal Keith O'Brien on many issues, he has shown great courage by going against the Establishment by supporting the call for an independent inquiry into this highly questionable conviction.

Mr Megrahi should have been released for only one reason; because he was innocent. This will never be proved or disproved, however, unless there is an independent inquiry which would have to be transparent, unlike the usual whitewashes that have passed for inquiries recently.

The SNP and its followers must reinstate the party's failing credibility on this issue by campaigning rigorously to persuade the Scottish Parliament into doing the right thing by holding such an inquiry.

As a member of the party, those are my sentiments precisely, and I believe of many others.

  3. MISSION LOCKERBIE:
sorry text in a computer "Babylon" translation, german/english langugage:

If the Scottish Justice on the safe side of the "Lockerbie Judgement" feels itself; and at the correctness of the condemnation Al-Megrahi's holds (guiltily at the death of 270 persons) it should not be for the Scottish Parliament a problem, for a new overdue investigation within the 6 points (Miscarriage of Justice) the SCCRC documentation to agree… Justice for Al-Megrahi.

    in German language

Justice for Al-Megrahi.

  4. Who and why would a new investigation in the case of Lockerbie- Case like to prevent?

1.) The Scottish Justice from fear of the truth and the consequences after an appreciative ""Miscarriage of Justice" !

2.) The still unknown organization which for the assassination attempt on PanAm 103 is responsible!

  5. MISSION LOCKERBIE:

Justice for Al Megrahi...

sorry, only a computer "Babylon" translation in german/english language:

Terminated over God will a large negligence...

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) may not miss the opportunity for safety reasons in Air Traffic to know finally definitely whether the actual assassins of PanAm 103 are still in freedom!
This is a further reason to instruct the 'Scottish Parliament' to start immediately a new investigation in the case of Lockerbie. Justice for Al Megrahi…
