Libyan NTC head on Gaddafi's payments to Megrahi

[The English language website of the Arabic newspaper Al-Arabiya has today published an interview with the head of the Libyan National Transitional Council, Mustafa Abdul Jalil.  It reads in part:]

Abdul Jalil said that Qaddafi’s son Seif al-Islam suggested his name for minister of justice as one of several other officials who were meant to take part in a reform plan.

“This plan was part of another plan to groom Seif al-Islam to inherit the presidency from his father.”

Abdul Jalil said that he had later regretted accepting this position.

He also talked about the Lockerbie incident and explained that Libya handed the two main suspects Abdul Baset al-Megrahi and al-Amin Fahima to Britain because of the sanctions.

“Qaddafi used to pay Megrahi 150,000 Euros per month while he was in jail in return for his silence.” [RB: I would be interested to know what evidence Mr Abdul Jalil has for the allegation that payments to Abdelbaset Megrahi were for his silence.]

In the first episode of Political Memory, Abdul Jalil said he would resign from his position following the legislative elections scheduled for July 7.

“I plan to quit politics and go back to the judiciary.”

[Mr Abdul Jalil said in February that he had proof that Gaddafi ordered the Lockerbie bombing. No such proof was produced.]

Claiming that people are paid for silence is one of the safest claims to make. If the payee would have anything to say it would be true. If not, nobody will be able to disprove the claim anyway.

Even if Megrahi had the world to tell, there would be no need to explicitly agree on "silence". What would Megrahi imagine? That he was paid a yearly sum, and it would have no consequences if he should start saying incriminating things?

So to have any weight, the claim must be followed up with an argumentation that there would have been no other good reason for the payment. The Libya should not support Megrahi very well would be absurd, guilty or not.

It is the same consideration that allows us to label the payment to Gauci as a bribe beyond possible doubt: There could be no other reason to pay him than for his role in the trial, and the verdict he was a part of.

Is it ALL what the "Chairman" of (NTC of Libya) Mustafa Abdul Jalil, can bring as evidence against ex Gaddafi ?!

Reminder: to get support from NATO in the Libyan civil war, claimed in an interview with the Swedish newspaper "EXPRESSEN" (Feb. 24, 2011) by Jalil, that he could bring evidence, that Gaddafi have orchestrated the "Pan Am 103 bombing"-- and he will present to the world at a later stage the evidence.

Please Mr. Jalil, if you step back as "Head of NTC" and after you go back again in the justice system, you have time for indict your self in the first court case.

It corresponds the fact, that ex leader Gaddafi and his son, Saif el-Islam, Mr. Abdelbaset al-Megrahi every month a large sum of US$ have promised as "Reparations payment" (and later also had paid) before his return on August 20, 2009, when he (al-Megrahi) withdraw its appeal !

Al-Megrahi will go in the history, as involuntary hero for the Libyan people.
Gaddafi's payment to al-Megrahi, maintain by Jalil, of monthly 150'000 Euro, was certainly not paid in return for al-Megrahi's silence, but paid in a context of a secret deal between Gaddafi and Scotland, (the back ground is publicated
in Bollier's coming book - working title: "Lockerbie, fight for the truth").

    The withdrawal of the granted Appeal by the Scottish-CCR Commission, by al-Megrahi, stood in this "deal" on first place The withdraw of its appeal *not was necessary for the early releas from prison, because of al-Megrahi's illness;
*confirmed by UN observer Professor Dr. Hans Köchler.
Although Gaddafi and Saif el Islam were legally oriented, al-Megrahi received the order, to withdraw the appeal...

It is interesting to note that Mr. Jalil today regrets at that time accepted the post as Minister of Justice, with the support of Saif el-Islam, have to.
On the edge of Economic Forum 'WEF' in Davos (January, 2009) Jalil with Gaddafi's son, Saif el-Islam and Edwin Bollier (MEBO) was at a meeting in the House of Rothschild in the monastery below Davos.

There, Jalil was showed the "forensic" proof in the "Lockerbie-affair" professionally presented by me (Bollier)...
Jalil, at that time he was with full power on the side of Saif el-Islam and was excited and convinced that Abdelbaset al- Megrahi had nothing to do with the real 'Pan Am 103-bombing' - and that he clearly is a political prisoner...
