Doyen of Nationalist lawyers speaks out

"I don't think there's a lawyer in Scotland who now believes Mr Megrahi was justly convicted. The Americans were out for vengeance. Anyone with a darker skin would do. With their barrowloads of money to buy witnesses, aided by our police and prosecution, they hoodwinked our courts."

[From an e-mail sent today by Ian Hamilton QC and quoted with his permission. Ian Hamilton is a veteran campaigner for Scottish independence. He was the recipient of a lifetime achievement award at the 2009 Law Awards of Scotland. Ian Hamilton blogs here.]

  5. I once asked him if they returned the real stone and he replied "the stone we returned was the stone we took".

  8. I find the Condelezza comments insulting and obscene. When I sign this comment I will use my real name, not hide behind "wit" and a false identity. If you truly believe that America bought this man's trial, then you must have some idea concerning the real bomber.... if so, why is that not part of all this blather? You do not seem to have proven your case to the families who lost members in Lockerbie.... or is this just political gamesmanship?
