Release al-Megrahi

[This is the heading over a letter by John Dobbins published today in The Scotsman. It reads as follows:]

The integrity and human decency shown by Jim Swire and John Mosey (your report, 8 July) are truly remarkable, given the ongoing trauma they face in the aftermath of the Lockerbie atrocity and ensuing legal fiasco.

Disappointing, though understandable, is the blinkered position taken by some of the American relatives, whose vain search for justice has, sadly, led them to settle for revenge as mitigation for their loss through the continued punishment of an innocent man.

Their personal tragedy is compounded by the betrayal of their unquestioning belief in their country's professed moral principles and their inability to accept they have been lied to by the US and UK governments

Justice secretary Kenny MacAskill now has the opportunity to repair the damage done to the Scottish legal system's international reputation, by agreeing to Jim Swire's proposal that Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi be immediately released and returned home to Libya. It is imperative he does not hide behind jargon and shows the moral courage needed to see off pressure from "friendly" foreign or home-grown powers to drop the appeal.

    Dear Justice Secretary Mr McAskill

Please make your position clear to the victims, Abdelbaset al Megrahi,Libya, other persons suffering financial damage (like
    MEBO Ltd) and the Public.

Are you and the judges ready to accept MEBO's provable accusations against the Scottish Officials Dr Thomas Hayes, Alan Feraday (RARDE) and other persons in the Scottish Police for having falsified and manipulated decisive evidence (MST-13 timer) during the prosecution?

Or are you and the judges only interested in covering-up these
provable facts? Please give a clear statement.

Please remember, the FBI Special Agent and Task Force Chief Richard Marquise answered Gideon Levy's (VPRO) question. G.L.: Would you have a case if you wouldn't have these evidence (MST-13 timer)? R.M.: Would we have a case. It would be a very dificult case to prove. It would be a very dificult case to prove ... I don't think we would ever had an indictment.

And he said also: But I can tell you that now money was paid to any witness, any witness prior to the trial. No promise of money was made to any witness prior to the trial. G.L.: And was there paid any money after he trial? R.M.: I'm not gonna answer that...

And he said: If someone manipulated evidence, if somebody didn't invesitgate something that should have been investigated, if somebody twisted it to fit up up Megrahi, or Fimah or Libya, then that person will go to jail. I mean that sincerely, that person should be prosecuted for that.

We hope the Scottish Justice takes this fact to knowledge and goes into a faster action with a criminal charge against her officials than with the case of Mr. Abdelbaset al Megrahi...

The long overdue Scottish revision of the judgement against Abdelbased al Megrahi
helps Libya to reestablish its worldwide prestige that suffered severely under the unjustverdict against Al Megrahi.

The manipulated evidence material shows clearly that Mr Megrahi and Libya have nothing to do with the Lockerbie Tragedy! Photos, documents and falsification evidence material, can be seen on our webpage URL: http://www.lockerbie.ch

Justice For Abdelbaset Al Megrahi and Libya!

  2. It's a horrible thing to say but maybe part of the failure of the some of the American relatives to look at the facts is that if they did then they might come to the conclusion that Megrahi is innocent and that if he is innocent, they might wonder what they are doing with the millions of pounds of Libyan money.
In other words how far does the money affect their stance.

  3. Honest prisoner exchange:

Mr Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi, you can change the Greenock prison with
Dr. Thomas Hayes und Allen Feraday (Experts RARDE) and minimum 3 well-known Scottish policy officers, guilty for having falsified and manipulated decisive evidences (MST-13 timer) etc. during the prosecution and must go 10 years into a Scottish prison. You are demonstrable not guilty, you are free to go!
That would be Human right and Scottish justice...

  4. As usual, Ruth has "hit the toe on the nail" (as my maths master, Jock MacGowan, used jocularly to say). She is critical of the US government's and the American relatives' stance over the money, and their attitude both to Libya and to Mr Megrahi.

It's like the old style wild west poster: REWARD $4 million - Megrahi and Fhimah - dead or alive!
    (Doesn't matter about the trial?)

Mr Fhimah was tried and found NOT GUILTY.

Mr Megrahi's WRONGFUL CONVICTION in 2001 is about to be quashed on appeal to Scotland's High Court of Justiciary.

Open up the gold reserves at Fort Knox, Hilary Clinton! And get your credit card out, Frank Duggan! There are some really seriously big repayments you'll have to make: $2.7 billion plus $1.5 billion plus......

  5. Patrick, If you knew anything about this case, or the settlement, you would know that there is no repayment. Not that it would happen, considering Megrahi's guilt. No wonder you were tossed from FCO.

Ruth, you're correct, what you said is a horrible thing. But considering the source (you), it's no surprise.

  6. Yesterday's mention of Hillary Clinton and the Fort Knox gold reserves (above) was amazingly prescient, in the light of this CNS News article dated 16 July 2009: "As Clinton Cites Libya As Example, Gaddafi Attacks U.S." - see http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=51116.

  7. If I were a relative like Dr Swire I wouldn't rest until all stones had been turned. I would work night and day to find out who'd murdered my mother, my child..

Stones have been turned and factual evidence has been shown that Megrahi must be innocent. There are still many other stones to be turned.

I can't understand why many of the relatives are blind to factual evidence. It would be unlikely that they aren't all unintelligent. So I'm left thinking that the money is causing the blindness.

I don't want to think this so I'd be really grateful if anybody could give me an alternative reason.

  8. Some American relatives the blood-money is more important than the truth! The demonstrable manipulated and falsified indications proofs, show it obviously, the truth died before the Lockerbie-Tragedy...
