They (and practically every other media outlet in Scotland) stopped doing that in 2009. Why is this, do you think?

Some have mentioned "Lockerbie ennui" which is probably true to some extent. However, the case is still in the public eye and they still publish material about it, just not material relating to Megrahi's innocence. The Herald's Lucy Adams, previously one of the main proponents of the miscarriage of justice point of view, wouldn't even read my book, never mind comment on it.

In my view this has a lot to do with the attitudes universally embraced in 2009. Megrahi was released. At this point the ingrained agenda of "SNP bad" which all the mainstream media in Scotland subscribes to, completely took over. Never mind the abandoned appeal that we've been hyping up for years as likely to succeed, never mind the huge flaws in the original judgement and evidence that we've been obsessing about since 2000, THE SNP RELEASED A MASS MURDERER TO DIE AT HOME! AND THEN HE DIDN'T EVEN DIE ON SCHEDULE! THE HORROR! AND THERE WAS AN OIL DEAL!

It's all about "let's stick it to the bloody SNP" as one Labour councillor so eloquently encapsulated his party's entire policy spectrum a year ago. (How did that work out for you, old chap?) Publicising material that shows Megrahi's conviction to be flawed, or (even worse) that proves his innocence, would interfere with this agenda. So they don't do it. Not any more.Rolfehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16206952819245786811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073021351804532798.post-90506475096912036802015-11-12T10:22:12.946+00:002015-11-12T10:22:12.946+00:00Hah, that's actually funny.Hah, that's actually funny.Rolfehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16206952819245786811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1073021351804532798.post-26128137103122704162015-11-12T10:04:00.418+00:002015-11-12T10:04:00.418+00:00 it is a Swiss cheese...
